Are Speech Technologies really helpful for our daily life?
Many questions are still open as to whether Speech Technologies are really going to improve our personal communications. Skepticism rises when one thinks on how much could be done if we could only use our voice to talk to machines and how little has been accomplished. Many believe Speech Technologies are only developing at a slow pace so that big Computer and Communications companies can sell useless, easy-to-implement gadgets which are not going to change our life a little bit, but may very well increase our telephone bills!
